With both the House and the Senate having passed the last-minute debt ceiling deal, Barack Obama IN A PANIC has officially signed the deal into law. then goes on air to say America’s debt crisis has been averted, at least for now.
In reality, the deal has done little more than defer the tough decisions that are required. Moderates in Washington are at some point going to have to tackle the cancerous right-wing caucus that has held the global economy hostage to preserve their idiotic ideology. Obama has pulled back from that confrontation for now, but how much longer can the showdown be averted?
It’s very clear that the US political system is highly dysfunctional at present, with three groups – Democrats, Republicans and extreme Republicans – fighting for dominance. It’s the extremists who have so far prevailed. How much longer can that be allowed to continue?
